PROJECTS OVERVIEW
Bupa UK is undergoing a digital transformation to improve the delivery of its services and to become more customer-centric. With the increasing demand for digital healthcare, Bupa wants to provide customers with a more seamless and convenient experience by investing in developing online portals and mobile applications, allowing customers to easily manage their health and well-being.
MY CONTRIBUTION
I oversee and lead product design direction in a team of 45+ design professionals, including UX, UI, Content Design, and User Research.
I’m responsible for:
- Leading design strategy and direction for the product team, working closely with product management and stakeholders to ensure alignment of user and business goals
- Developing and maintaining design standards and principles that promote consistency and efficiency
- Introducing and optimising ways of working in the teams
- Managing and mentoring a team of designers, guiding design processes, tools, and methodologies
- Fostering a culture of design excellence within the organisation, advocating for the value of design and user research in decision-making
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to identify user needs and pain points, and translating them into requirements
- Creating artefacts, designs and concepts
- Ensuring the accessibility and inclusivity of product designs, taking into account the needs of users with disabilities and diverse backgrounds
Key projects
Redesign of customer digital identity
I designed a new way for customers to create their digital identity. I solved problems surrounding connecting legacy systems, proving identity, and greatly simplifying the existing experience to reduce failure rates.
My contribution
- Introduced new ways of working, breaking internal barriers and bringing traditionally disjointed teams together to work in an agile way
- Practised service design, using holistic thinking to connect legacy systems and understand and design for the whole experience
- Facilitated over 100 hours of collaborative work with subject matter experts, developers, solution architects, and business analysts
- Led strategy and direction of user experience within a multidisciplinary squad
Design of app feature for providing medical history
I led the design and experience strategy on a new feature, allowing customers to provide their past medical details in the app, replacing paper forms. This transformative project is a crucial step toward automated underwriting at Bupa, speeding up customer access to their products

- Championed design thinking and facilitated collaboration between multiple stakeholders and teams
Prototype design of a new low-cost health product
I led a new business proposition’s design and experience strategy, making private healthcare more affordable. We formed a small team of experts around it, tasked with creating the proposition and a prototype of a digital product to support it.
My contribution
- Formed a small agile team, supporting colleagues to embrace new ways of working and educated on the design thinking framework
- Performed user research and data collection, drawing insights, identifying the right thing to solve, and formulating strategies to get there
- Led user experience strategy and product design, utilising my t-shaped skillset to plan, design, and create a fully functioning Figma prototype
